Nobel Prizes_ Adam G. Riess

Hi readers! After doing an information table, all the class together, of all the Nobel Prizes of the last twelve years, we had to chose one of all of them. So, I have chosen Adam G. Riess.

Adam Guy Riess was born in 16 December 1969 in Washington DC (USA). He is an astrophysicist at The Johns Hopkins University and the Space Telescope Science Institute and is known for his research in using supernovae as cosmological probes. 

Riess is the  Nobel Prize in Physics in 2011 with Saul Perlmutter and Brian P. Schmidt for providing evidence that the expansion of the universe in accelerating.

In my opinion the way that those three astrophysicists discovered that our giant universe is accelerating its expansion. And they proved that analyzing the supernovas. The supernova is the strong explosion of a star, more energetic than a nova, and they are extremely luminous. So much that they can bright a full galcsy


In his page of internet, in his blog, Adam G. Riess have explained some discoveries that he knows perfectly, such as very interesting information about the dark energy, or the pictures of many supernovae that he reached to the NASA, each one with its serial code as name, for example the "HST04Kur" or the "2003dy".
